LaCrescent Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 by a small group of citizens concerned about the welfare of stray animals in the LaCrescent Area. LAR’s primary goal is to provide care for stray and homeless cats and dogs, spay and neuter them, and find suitable foster and permanent homes for them. Our long-term goal is to build a modest animal shelter in our community. To date, we have placed over 500 cats and dogs into loving homes.
LAR is composed strictly of volunteers. We have a board of directors, as well as several committees made up of members of the community. These committees include Outreach and Education, Animal Issues, Building, and Fundraising. These committees are open to anyone who is interested in contributing their time and enthusiasm. We meet the first Tuesday of every month, and the public is welcome to attend.
